Energy Veteran Mike Stice Joins EIM Team To Build Out Mexico's Infrastructure

OCTOBER 29, 2015

Mexico's EIM Capital said Oct. 29 it has appointed J. Mike Stice to its board of advisers.

Stice is the former CEO of Access Midstream Partners LP, which was acquired by Williams Partners LP (NYSE: WPZ) in February 2015. Prior to that he served as president and COO of Chesapeake Midstream Development LP, and as senior vice president of natural gas projects of Chesapeake Energy Corp. (NYSE: CHK).

"His experience building out Chesapeake's midstream division around unconventional plays and his global experience will be invaluable," said Franco C. Hamdan, CEO of EIM Capital, in a statement.

"His belief in the future of Mexico from an investor and academic perspective is another vote of confidence in Mexico's energy reform," Hamdan added.

Mexico currently holds some of the world's largest oil and gas reserves, according to the release. However, Mexico's potential will require ongoing large investment into new or updated midstream infrastructure as on- and offshore production accelerates over the next five years.

Stice will join similar luminaries such as former Mexican President Vicente Fox, former Minister of Communication and Transportation Pedro Cerisola and the Dean of Escuela Libre de Derecho Fauzi Hamdan.

Stice's experience spans four decades in the creation and management of international upstream and midstream infrastructure operations, the release said. This includes shale oil and gas, LNG, on- and offshore hydrocarbon transportation, and storage.

Before joining Chesapeake in 2008, Stice spent 27 years with ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP) and its predecessor companies.

He received his chemical engineering degree from the University of Oklahoma, a master's degree in business from Stanford University and an international director's diploma from Queensland University. In addition, he has completed his doctorate of education at The George Washington University.

Stice currently serves as the dean of the college of Earth and Energy at Oklahoma University. He also holds directors positions at a number of publically-traded companies, such as Sandridge Energy Inc. (NYSE: SD), U.S. Silica Holdings Inc. (NYSE: SLCA), and MarkWest Energy Partners LP (NYSE: MWE). He is also a director at Southern Gas Association.

EIM Capital is a private equity investment manager with offices in Mexico City and Dallas.
